About the Role
We’re looking for a Founding Sales Lead to build and own the go-to-market function at Basic Capital. You’ll lead our sales efforts from prospect to close, managing a full-cycle process that spans SMB to lower middle market clients, while focusing on channel distribution partnerships as our primary sales motion.
This role blends direct selling, channel enablement, and partnership development—selling across multiple retirement products (SIMPLE IRA, 401(k)) and collaborating with distribution partners in industries like home services and other roll-up verticals. You’ll shape our sales playbook, design scalable processes, and lay the foundation for a sales organization others will follow.
You Will
Own the Sales Cycle from Meeting to Close:
Manage the entire sales process, from first contact through negotiation, contracting, and activation—whether direct or through channel partners.Build and Manage Channel Distribution Partnerships:
Develop and deepen relationships with distribution partners, enabling them to drive adoption of our SIMPLE IRA and 401(k) solutions with their customer bases.Navigate a Spectrum of Deal Sizes and Cycles:
Manage both fast-moving SMB deals and longer, more complex lower middle market sales, adapting strategies to fit channel-driven and direct paths.Sell Across Products and Platform:
Drive adoption of both our retirement products and our broader platform, articulating value to partners, employers, and stakeholders.Leverage Bottoms-Up Sales Motion:
Tap into end-user interest and grassroots adoption to build momentum within organizations, while equipping channel partners to scale that motion.Develop a Repeatable Sales Playbook:
Codify messaging, processes, and best practices into a scalable playbook for future sales hires and partners.Optimize for Automation:
Identify opportunities to streamline sales processes, partner enablement, and reporting through automation and tooling.
You Have
Full-Cycle Sales Experience:
5+ years managing complex sales cycles from prospecting to close, ideally in B2B fintech, SaaS, benefits, or financial services.Experience with Channel Sales or Partner-Driven GTM:
Proven track record working with channel partners, resellers, or distributors to drive product adoption and revenue.Success Selling to SMB and Mid-Market Customers:
Familiarity with both small business and mid-sized organizational sales processes, whether direct or via partners.Multi-Product Sales Experience:
Ability to sell across multiple products and tailor solutions to different customer segments and partner needs.Bottoms-Up Sales Expertise:
Experience leveraging user-led or grassroots demand to unlock organizational sales or adoption.Entrepreneurial Drive:
Excitement for building from scratch—owning strategy, execution, and iteration as an early-stage leader.Excellent Communication and Storytelling:
Ability to explain complex financial products and partnership models clearly to diverse audiences.Process-Driven with a Bias for Automation:
Proactive about building scalable workflows, automating repetitive tasks, and making sales ops efficient.
Bonus Points
Experience selling through channel partners in home services, franchising, or roll-up verticals
Familiarity with retirement or benefits products (401(k), SIMPLE IRA, SEP IRA, etc.)

Compensation
This role offers on target earnings of $275,000 plus meaningful equity compensation.
